Privacy Notice

Purpose of processing data

The personal data is processed for the utilization of Qvalio, a web-based tool designed for the evaluation and validation of higher education courses, as well as for conducting course validation with this tool.

Personal data encompasses the email address and the name of the course currently undergoing validation. Additionally, the users of Qvalio are instructed to avoid inputting personal information into the tool. However, the team managing Qvalio cannot prevent the user from providing such identifying information.

Qvalio was developed by the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Medicine, University of Turku. Its objective is to enhance the quality of higher education courses and ensure their comprehensive design, considering various aspects and perspectives.

The collected data will be processed to facilitate the validation of the respective courses, analyze the outcomes, and continuously enhance and improve the Qvalio tool.

Legal basis for processing data

Processing is primarily based on for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (GDPR Art. 6 (e)) and for scientific or historical research purposes or statistical purposes.(Section 4 of the Data Protection Act 1050/2018).

Processed personal data groups

Qvalio website will collect the name of the course that is being validated, the country where the course is based at, and the name of the person who is filling the form.

The person filling the form can choose to use a pseudonym instead of a name if they so wish. It is also recommend that users avoid writing information that is irrelevant for using Qvalio, from which they can be identified.

Storage and processing of personal data

Personal data collected is operated by the team managing Qvalio, and stored in the University of Turku servers, provided by the Digital Services of the University of Turku, Finland.

The personal data will not be transferred to other recipients outside the University of Turku, or outside the EU/European Economic Area.

Retention period for personal data

Personal data is deleted after five years of inactive use. This means that if a course page isn’t used in five years by anyone, the personal data it contains will be deleted.

Rights of the data subject

You have the right to access your personal data retained by the the Data Controller, the right to rectification or erasure of data, and the right to restrict and object the processing of data. Contact details of the Data Controller can be found from above.
